If you are reading this, you may not be at IPCC 2012 on the campus of the University of Central Florida.  No worries–I am happy to bring you up to date on the sights, sounds, and bright ideas that have emerged during Day 1 of our annual conference.

Manuel Lima and Madelyn Flammia, who introduced him

We kicked off Day 1 with a keynote address from Manuel Lima, author of the book Visual Complexity.  Manuel’s topic was “The Power of Networks,” and he drew from a variety of disciplines–art, philosophy, biology, neural networks, and many more.

After Manuel’s talk, we broke into concurrent sessions where presenters shared their research, pedagogy, and/or best practices and attendees asked questions, took notes, and made connections with potential collaborators.

I plan to post several more times from IPCC 2012!  Stay tuned for further updates…
