Conference Program
The theme of this year’s conference is Communicating Vision. Vision is one of the most important channels for communicating information, encompassing all aspects of data visualization, information design, and best graphical practices, in all forms of print and electronic media.
Of course, we just as often refer to vision in a metaphorical sense, to denote ideas, goals, or breakthroughs that one “sees” with unusual acuity, understanding, or imagination. Vision of this type may make some professional communication particularly powerful, enabling it to bring together audiences and stakeholders, and to motivate them to action.
Our keynote speaker will be Manuel Lima, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, named by Creativity magazine in 2009 as “one of the 50 most creative and influential minds,” and a senior UX design lead at Microsoft Bing.
The final program for the IEEE International Professional Communication Conference 2012 is now available.
Information for Presenters
Each presentation room will contain a computer with PowerPoint 2010, a projector, and a screen. Please bring your PowerPoint slides on a flash drive. If you didn’t use PowerPoint 2010 to create your slides, consult a source such as http://www.thejuryexpert.com/2011/07/powerpoint®-presention-compatibility-be-prepared-for-surprises/ for advice on ensuring that your slides are compatible.
If you wish to use Prezi, the computers in the presentation rooms will have Web access.
If you will be using the Internet during your presentation, it would be wise not to rely on anything that is bandwidth-intensive.

Location
About the Conference Facilities
The conference will be held at the University of Central Florida (UCF). As the second largest university in the nation, UCF offers many exciting opportunities in academics, research, athletics, clubs and organizations, and campus life. The modern campus fosters an environment of participation and collaboration.
All of the conference sessions will be held on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the UCF Student Union at the heart of the campus and about 1 mile from the conference hotel. All rooms have Wi-Fi Internet access. The Student Union also provides a variety of fast food restaurants on the 1st floor, as well as the campus bookstore, five ATMs, and other services.
The Tuesday evening Awards Reception will be held at the UCF Fairwinds Alumni Center and will feature entertainment by the UCF Jazz Band.
The conference will provide a free shuttle between the hotel and the Student Union before and after each day’s conference sessions, as well as to and from the Tuesday evening Awards Reception.

The average taxi fare between the Orlando International Airport and the Radisson—UCF is $50.00 each way.
Taxis are available on both the A and B sides of the Main Terminal, on the Ground Transportation Level (Level 1), at the following Commercial Lane parking spaces:

Rental Car
Rental cars are usually reasonably priced in Orlando and may be a less expensive option than taxi rides. Consult travel aggregators such as www.bookingbuddy.com and www.kayak.com to find the best deals on car rentals.
Note: Be advised that several roads between the Orlando International Airport and the Radisson—UCF charge tolls between $0.50 and $1.00 each. Be sure to have cash on hand to pay these tolls!
